These Excellent to EM+ condition 1933 R176 Pulver's Yellow Kid Scrip cards were part of the first great comic strip merchandising, which ran from 1895 until the 1930s and included every sort of imaginable branded Yellow Kid type of consumer product. The Yellow Kid comic was featured in William Randolph Hearst's.

As well as in Joseph Pulitzer's. And became so famous that these newspapers became known as the staples of the "Yellow Journalism" movement that focused on sensationalism-led sales.

The remarkable scarcity of these cards today is a direct result of the amount of scrip that was mailed in for prizes and cash at the height of the Great Depression. Similar to the R172 Wild West #25 Free Cowboy Outfit and R72 Schutter-Johnson #4 Strongman, the 100 Denomination Yellow Scrip Kid card is known to exist but is impossible to find as a direct result of the Pulver's promotion. Even the 50 denomination scrip card is rarely seen and when it occasionally does come up for sale, it is in poor condition. The 50 Yellow Kid Scrip denomination card offered in this group is likely the finest known example and the overall condition of the six cards is superb.
