Star Wars 1977 Marvel series 2-72 (no 42 68) Near Complete Run Lot Annual 1 VFNM
Featuring the first appearances of many characters which pre-date the release of the original movie before moving on to the first exploration of the "expanded universe", the complete series ran for 107 issues and this lot has 2-72 with the exception of a handful of missing issues (32, 38, 39, 41, 42, 44, 52, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 68). Also included are Annuals 1 and 2. The condition averages Very Fine across the set, but many issues hardly show any signs of reading, so there will be some in the VF/NM range, maybe better. No major flaws on any books that I can see, so no tears, cut-outs, stains, writing, etc.
The first few issues adapt the original movie and appear to be in VF- or VF condition, with the primary defect across each of these early issues being some light bending to the upper-right corners. The bends affect the first 10 issues, fading out around 11, by issue 12 the bends are gone and the issues are in the higher-grade range. The scans on the first few issues that I posted appear to have moderate dirt on the back, but I believe this has been greatly exaggerated in the direct light of the scanner and is barely perceptible to the naked eye.Finding a near-complete original-owner set of the first Star Wars series is very difficult at this point, you could be only the second person to own these highly-coveted books and in excellent shape, too! These books are part of a family member's collection of nearly 30 long boxes of comics who has finally decided to let them all go.
Most books were read only once and were put away, so the colors are often beautifully preserved. I will be listing several other series from this collection so check my other listings for more!
